Happy Memorial Day~

Please take a minute today to say a prayer for all the soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. And say another prayer for all those men and women in the military who are still here with us, but sacrifice their lives every day for us still.  Pray for their safety and safe return back home to their family and friends. And pray for all the families who are remembering their loved ones who they have lost. In honor of all our fallen soldiers and all who continue to fight for our freedom today...
THANK YOU!

Until next time, Enjoy life's blessings~

Guest Designer Spotight, Amanda Corbet!

Hello!
I'm Amanda Corbet and I am so excited and honored to be sharing a project with you here on Jo's lovely blog. First I would like to share just a little bit about me. This is me and my husband Bill. This photo was just a few days ago when we went on the Ducks tour in Branson, Missouri.

When I'm not working at my day job as a designer at a local manufacturing company, cleaning/remodeling the house with my hubby, working on college coursework, making signs or jewelry to sell in my Etsy Shop, working out, or giving the dogs their deserved attention, I like to make things. A large variety of things...I just love to create things with my hands and put that special love into the gifts I give and the things I make for my home. So far I have done crochet (which is great TV watching crafting), cross stitch, jewelry making, card making, fused glass, stained glass, some painting, and a lot of paper crafting! I make a lot of cards and do a lot of stamping for three reasons:
  1. It's like instant gratification because a card doesn't take long to make
  2. I have a large family with lots of birthdays and such so the cards are always handy to have around
  3. I'm a Stampin' Up! demonstrator so I love to share all the fabulous products they have.
If you want to take a peek into where I play, create, make a mess, and sometimes actually have a finished project click here.

Okay, now onto the project. I just got in some of the new Stampin' Up! toys from the new catalog and I wanted to play around with them a bit. So today I have taken the five new in colors with two different stamp sets to create a set of 5 cards that would make a lovely gift.

~Supplies~

2016-2018 In Color cardstock 5-1/2" x 8-1/2"
2016-2018 In Color Stampin' Ink Pads
Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper
Whisper White cardstock
Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
1/8" Silver Ribbon
Birthday Blooms stamp set
Suite Sayings stamp set
Whisper White Medium Envelopes
Banners Framelits
Big Shot
Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush

First off you want to place your cardstock onto your Stampin' Trimmer with the 8-1/2" edge against the top then score at 4-1/4". Fold on the score line and repeat with the remaining pieces of cardstock.

Use the smallest Banner Framelit in your Big Shot to cut five banners from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. Use the 3rd from smallest Banner Framelit to cut five banners from Whisper White cardstock. Use the 5th from smallest Banner Framelit to cut five banners from the chevron pattern Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).

For each card you are going to use the color of ink that coordinates with the cardstock. So for example this cardstock is Flirty Flamingo so use Flirty Flamingo ink. Stamp the large blossom from Birthday Blooms all over the card front. Then open the card and stamp the flower once inside the lower right hand corner of the card. Next stamp the blossom into the lower left hand corner of your envelope. Finally choose a greeting from Suite Sayings and stamp the greeting onto the Whisper White banner in the same ink.

If you want to step up your cards a bit and really make them sparkle and shine use the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to trace around the flower petals on all the flowers on the card front and the flowers inside the card. It's such a subtle shimmer, but really packs a punch when you see it in person.

Now you can use your desired adhesive to glue the DSP banner onto the card front, then the greeting banner, then the glitter banner all staggered as shown. Finally tie a length of 1/8" Silver Ribbon around the card front and into a knot.

Then just repeat to create a card in each of the fabulous new In Colors! Introducing..... (just imagine a drum roll here...) Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, and Sweet Sugarplum!

Here's another close up so you can see the sparkle and shine of that Wink of Stella. So in only 30 minutes I now five different cards for five different occasions.

I've wrapped them up with some retired ribbon to give as a gift, but these would also be wonderful to keep in your stash for when you need a last minute card for any occasion!

Thank you so much Jo for having me over today!

**Amanda thank you so much for your wonderful project and for Guest Designing today! It was an honor to put you in the spotlight and have you on my blog~**

Until Next time, Enjoy life's blessings~

Capture a moment with Little Blue Button Stamps- June Release!

Little Blue Button Stamps

Hello sweet friends!
Welcome to another Fun Friday! I hope you had a wonderful week and hopefully ready to get a jump start on gathering fun ideas and inspiration for all your crafty projects this weekend! I also want to wish you all a very Happy Memorial Day weekend!!! With that being said, let's get right to it!!!
New June Release
For my project today, I had the absolute pleasure of coloring up this adorable digital stamp, Capture a Moment! This stamp set is a complete set full with a few images and some sentiments too! It is just one of the new stamp sets from June's new release. Just perfect for the summer! Think of all the photos we take during the summertime. Pool photos, beach photos, water parks, summer BBQ's and the list goes on. This set is also perfect for all the Project Life enthusiasts because of those adorable sentiments and captions. So for today's project, I decided on making a shabby mixed media tag.

I printed out this set at 4" on some Georgia Pacific cardstock. I used my Brother Scan and cut to cut out this adorable photo-snapping happy gal and the speech bubble and sentiment. I colored her in using my copic markers and then used my Spectrum clear Sparkle pen on her outfit. I added some glossy accents to her camera and for her headband, I grabbed my grape Zazz glitter glue and made it all sparkly too. Once she was finished, I set her aside.

Next I pulled out a shipping tag that I had in my stash. I used seedless preserves, milled lavender and wilted violet distress inks to cover the tag generously. Then I used the crackle stencil by Tim Holtz with some texture paste that was colored using some silver metallic paint by deco art. I loved how the silver metallic paste looked all crackled over the gorgeous shades of purple. But I didn't stop there. I took some frantage in aged ivory and in ice blue and added it across the tag in various spots. If you look closely in the photo below you can see it.  I also added some gorgeous purple edged white lace across the center of the tag. To the top and bottom of the tag, I added some white rose trim aligned with pearls above it. I then adorned the entire bottom of the tag with gorgeous florals in whites and shades of purple. To finish off the tag, I added two stickpins and a beautiful metal butterfly from ButterBee Scraps. The gorgeous ribbon that I used is the new ruched ribbon from Stampin Up in the new Sweet Sugarplum in-color (will be available on June 1st), and I tied it off with some crisp clean whisper white twine, also from Stampin Up. Well there ya have it my friends, that is my project for today. I really hope you enjoyed it and that I have inspired you to bring out the lace and tags and get crafting!

Please make sure to stop by the Little Blue Button Stamps Blog to see what my design team sisters have created for you using Capture a Moment and the other new digital stamps from June's new release. If you want to purchase this stamp or any other stamp you may have been eyeing up, just go visit the LBBS Store.  Thank you so much for stopping by today and have a great weekend!!!

Until next time, Enjoy life's blessings~

A Farewell and An opportunity to design~

Hello Friends,

Today I am having to say a sad farewell to such a sweet gal and a very talented designer Darlene.  Prior to being chosen for my team, Darlene had made mention to me that she has things in the works that would soon be approaching and that she wasn't sure if she could handle another design team. But I had faith that all would work out and she did too. But unfortunately, as life would have it, she is unable to continue designing for Jo's Scrap Shack due to other prior commitments and has agreed to step down. She was only with us for a short few months but we will miss her! Very talented woman and she definitely is welcome to come back at any time! Thank you Darlene for all you have done in your time on our team! You will be missed my friend!

And now with Darlene having stepped down, we do have a DT position open up. If you are interested in filling this position, please send me an email at Joann6274 at gmail dot com. Happy Creating!!

Until next time, Enjoy life's blessings~
