2nd Post-- Sweet Dreams, September's New Release with Little Blue Button Stamps!

Little Blue Button Stamps

Hello sweet friends!
Welcome to another Fun Friday! I hope you had a wonderful week and hopefully ready to get a jump start on gathering fun ideas and inspiration for all your crafty projects this weekend! With that being said, let's get right to it!!!

New September Release
Ya know, I say this every release that comes out but this release is awesome! You have to check out September's new release. Again, there is something there for everyone! And I couldn't wait to work with this sweet image, Sweet Dreams.

Is this not the cutest image ever?? I was so excited when I saw this image and I will be honest, I had no clue what I would use it for. But then a lightbulb went off in my head and I decided to create a card to congratulate some really special parents on their new baby girl. My cousin and her husband are welcoming their first child, a little girl any day now! I know this is not a true baby image but when I saw this little girl all curled up and sleeping with her blankie and saw the sweet moon and stars, I figured why not?! Because I fell in love with this image so much, I wanted it to be the main focal. So as to not take away from the image, I kept this card completely clean and simple. It really is true that sometimes less is more. :)

I want to say that I struggled for awhile with trying to get good photos of this card. The lighting would not cooperate and in the first photo, it looks like my sentiment is not straight but it is. The card for some reason would not stay straight up in the frog holder so the second photo was taken without it. Okay so...
I decided that I wanted to watercolor this image so I printed my image onto some watercolor paper and then used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors to color it. I created a darker hue around the outside edge of the moon to give it that "glow" and the little stars are a nice golden color. Because this card is about a baby girl, I immediately went with the two most girly colors for her PJ's, pink and purple! Now I don't know if many of you will know what I am talking about here, but..., do you remember all those beautiful handmade baby blankets that your grandmother or great aunt would make every time a new baby would be coming into the family?  Specifically the ones in the multi-pastel aka "baby" colors? Well that is what I was trying to achieve the look of for this blanket, only I chose to go with the colors pink, purple, and baby blue. My own grandmother used to crochet and for every new baby that came into our family, she would make a baby sweater with matching booties and a blanket. I remember as if it were yesterday, watching her sitting on the couch and crocheting away. And I remember the excitement that I had when I told her that I couldn't wait for her to make a set for my baby some day. Only when that some day became a reality for me, my grandmother was already up in heaven. :(   ....   So anyways, that is the look I was trying to achieve with the colors. And then to finish up the image, I chose to do a light evening sky, not too dark and I am pleased with how this turned out overall. I used a bit of my Spectrum Clear sparkle pen over the moon, the glow from the lantern and the blanket but you cannot really see it too well in these photos. In real life, this image is sparkling away.

I cut my image down to a 4 by 4 square and then I took a piece of pink ribbon from my stash and wrapped it around the square and tied a bow. Please forgive my bow, I am terrible at making them LOL. Then I took that layer and adhered it to a 4 1/8 by 4 1/8 piece of baby pink cardstock that I had in my stash.  The layer is adhered down to a white card base and the sentiment, " Sweet wishes just for you" was stamped in Stampin' Up's night of navy ink and is from My Creative Time. Well there you have it! I told you that I kept it very simple this time around. I didn't want anything distracting or taking away from this beautiful image. :)

September New Release with Little Blue Button Stamps!

This is my 2nd Post today! Scroll down to see my first post!

Little Blue Button Stamps

Hello sweet friends!
Welcome to another crafty Monday and a brand new week! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and hopefully you are ready to get a jump start on gathering fun ideas and inspiration for all your crafty projects!

Ok so can anyone else believe how fast summer has flown by? We have like a week left here in the Northeast. But I am ready for the fall and everything that I love that associates with it. The bonfires, cool crisp air, hot cocoa and hot apple cider and of course, the changing of the leaves. But for now, will you settle on some hot coffee or tea? September's new release has a little bit of something for everyone. The Little Blue Button Stamps Shop has released some amazing digital stamps for this new release and I am super excited to share with you what I created. I had so much fun working with the digital stamp called, Coffee Love.

Here is what I created today!

From the Coffee love digital set, I used the "Life begins after coffee" sentiment, the cute girl image and the large coffee cup. I printed the images off onto some GP cardstock and colored them in using copic markers. I added some sparkle to her headband, outfit, & large coffee cup using my Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen.I fussy cut the images out once done and set them aside.

Next I cut out a 6x6" piece of watercolor paper. Using a few of my Zig clean color real brush markers, I applied some colors to the background and created a very light wash. Then I took a few paints from Deco-Art and a few stencils (Tim Holtz crackle & Balzar Designs geometric shapes and circles) and created a mixed media background. Once the paint dried ( I let it air dry), I took one last stencil (a diamond design) and took some texture paste to apply some dimension and texture. And then I took some of the espresso paint that I used on one of the stencils and created a few paint flicks, which created a nice subtle splatter.  Then I put that to the side to dry.  Once it was dry, I added the images to it and made it look like the girl was "handing you" a coffee to have as she already had hers in the other hand. She was being generous :)

Next I took a few embellishments to create a nice large cluster. So I started off with a small manilla tag and inked around the edges with some old photo distress ink. To the top of the tag, I added a burlap flower that I had added a vintage button to its center and tied some gold cording through it, finishing it off with a bow. Above the flower, I added the sentiment from the new Coffee Love set and inked up the edges and created a banner tail to one end. And above the sentiment, I chose to add a metal copper butterfly that I had in my stash.  Because this was a much larger card than what I usually do (6x6), I still feel like i needed to do more. So I took some light thread that I had and wrapped it around the left side of the panel eight times for more texture. I then added a cork butterfly with a small flower to one of the strings. To finish off this card, I added two small floral arrangements in two of the corners and added a few of the little yellow flowers that I had used on the cork butterfly. You may not be able to see it, but the green dots on the background, are sparkling as I used glitter paint with that. So the background is sparkling.  I adhered this finished front layer to a piece of patterned paper from a MFT 6x6 paper pad and then adhered the entire layer to a white 6x6 card base. And lastly, I added some black corners to the card.

Well I hope you enjoyed my mixed media card showing off this awesome  Coffee Love image! Please remember to head on over to the LBBS Blog to check out the awesome projects that my design team sisters have created for you using September's New Release.

Well thank you for stopping by today!
I hope you have a wonderful, crafty day!
Until next time, Enjoy life's blessings~

FFC #152 'Anything Goes'!

Hello sweet friends!
Welcome to another Fun~day Friday Challenge!!
Today is also a very special day here in my home. My daughter Gianna turns 13 today! An official teenager!! I am really feeling quite emotional to be honest. I have been through this before with my son (now almost 23), but this time around, it is harder. I believe it is harder because I know that she is my baby, the last child I will ever have. The years continue to fly by and she is getting older and before I know it, she'll be 18, off to college and flying the coop. I do not even want to think about being an empty nester and yet, that can happen in just 5 short years. Oh the emotions!!! Tears are falling my friends... I want my baby to stay small...please say some prayers for me today that I don't continue to cry through the day. I don't want to ruin her party. Here is a picture of my beautiful Gia.
